Jeff: I've got the same problem with an 82. the only repair from the dealer is the whole damn track assembly which is WAY more parts and work than I need and More than $400. (My brain is very adept at blotting out bad news like that!) Ron is just now looking into the Just Kampers (Of England) repair panels to see if the offside ones will work for our LHD Vanagons. He does business with them in quantity. Freight will KILL you on small purchases from overseas. good luck and keep in touch.
