Yes, you could just join the 2 wires which would eliminate the switch because as you say, the pump only turns on when there's a drop in pressure at the faucet. I put the switch in there though because if there was a drop in pressure anywhere along the line, for instance, there was a leak, the pump would not only keep pumping until the tank was empty but until the battery was dead. As it stands, I turn it on whilst I'm at the sink and don't have to turn it off until I've finished doing the dishes and dried my hands, or ever if I trusted my own plumbing, which I don't. Also, if you have a foot switch inside you couldn't use the hose out of the window without a second person on the inside holding the switch in for you. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Malcolm Stebbins Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2004 1:58 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Faucet modification I decided to use a 'horn button' (Push and hold for 'on', let go for 'off'), rather than a toggle switch as I did not want to: #1 waste water getting to the off switch, and #2 I did not want to have use wet hands to get to the switch. I put the horn button near the floor for foot activation. The Sureflow pump is a nice addition. Question: Can you leave the red switch 'on' and the Sureflow pump only works when you release the pressure at the faucet handle????? Asked another way, is the red lighted switch redundant and only there as a back-up confidence light/switch??? The actual head on your van's faucet looks very nice. Nice work.
