Gotta have something to keep them from moving in the hinges. But I'm sure it can be figured out :-) Reinhard 83 Westy, "Moose" --- JordanVw@AOL.COM wrote: > crude, but interesting..and it gives me an idea for > a completely stock > looking job.. :<) > > here goes: if you were to take a pair of regular > square door hinges (not the > wedge shaped strap hinges like you used) tap out > the pin, and enlarge the > holes to accept the headrest mount bars...and do > this: > peel back that black cloth tape that covers your > staples that holds your > seatback upholstry on...carefully pry out the > staples.. pull back the upholstry > and foam from the plywood seatbacking..(just from > the top edge-dont need to > remove the sides) ...then drill and mount the hinge > sections INSIDE the seatback, > between the foam and plywood. cut little holes for > the headrest mount bars > to stick thru..and recover/staple upholstry back > down... > viola! no ugly hinges to be seen! > > anyway..if anyone is interested in doing this rear > headrest coversion to > their westy and needs some headrests...i have a > bunch for sale.. > grey, tan, blue or brown.. let me know.. > > chris > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
