wow, didn't realize anyone might take me seriously. let me rephrase that i think they mean beat it out with a hammer unless its a transmission or anything else a list member would deem not good to hit with a hammer. sorry bout that -smokey ________________________________ From: Karl Hartmut Filc [mailto:kfilc@sympatico.ca] Sent: Mon 10/11/2004 6:43 PM To: GEORGE J GREEN; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: RE: trans main shaft removal ?? Hi there, Lately I had my tranny out for a clutch job. Mister Transmission in Canada never worked on a 80 Vanagon tranny. You have to take the clip out and yes there is a screw on the end of the drive shaft. So screw out is right. "carefully pry the strut from the ball bearing" screw that, that thing was rusted on IMABUS since it was born in Germany. -Smokey ________________________________ From: Vanagon Mailing List on behalf of Mark Fitzsimons Sent: Sun 10/10/2004 5:45 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: trans main shaft removal ??BR DESIGNTIMESP=26426> I need some advice on trans main shaft removal from a diesel and an aircooled vanagon transmission.
