Phillips, Norelco produced a 45 rpm record player in the 50s. It was a nifty little thing that mounted under the dash and swung out for loading of single records. Cost back then was about $60.00 and that was equal to the price of two tires at that time. That was a different era, we didn't drink or eat in our cars while they were moving and the music business was just producing the beginnings of Rock and Roll in the form of Slim Harpo, Josh White, Lightnin' Hopkins etc. ect. There was a lot of great music to be had in that era but the dollars to buy it just weren't there for the blue collar worker or his family. It's been done. Now that's an idea. Wonder why it never took off.
