Ahh, Frank, the stream of rare English brings tears to the eye...Surely you're a Monty Python fan? Several months ago I subscribed to autospeed.com and found it the best $50 an automotive technofile could spend. Their archives are a truly astounding collection of technical information well suited to the vanagon community...how to do cool things for a modicum of expense. (There's a fancy word too) If I recall correctly, they used a nanometer to find high positive pressure zones to locate an air intake on the front of one of their cars. Just curious, did you look at perforating the metal panel to the right and left of the rear license plate? My guess is that it would reduce under bonnet (and yes I'll have crumpets with my tea) temperatures significantly. I guess I'll have to go searching for your intake musings...I was wondering about the same issue.
