003 Auto Trannies were originally installed in Air Cooled Type 3 69-73, with variants installed in 70-74 Type 4, 73-75 Bay Window Buses and even 74-75 Dashers and Rabbits. Not recommended at all for the Vanagon. They're fun to use on Sand Rails, tho :-) Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" (Automatic) oldvolkshome@earthlink.net jim@karmannghia.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************** ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Fisher" <refisher@MCHSI.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 8:36 PM Subject: Re: What parts could I use? > Also, I saw a VW auto tranny with the string 003.321.105 E across the top; > it was too gunked up elsewhere for me get the codes off of it readily.
