Eric, At this point, hundreds of spammers already have your email address. And those that sell lists will be continuing to sell your email address to people buying them for various adverting schemes. When they get a known address, it will be kept on lists forever. Unless you change your email address, you will not solve the problem as your email address is already out there. All that applying the techniques that folks have described to you while keeping the same address will do is prevent future mining of your email address. Also using an ISP that has good spam detection services helps quite a bit. I get almost no spam through Verizon. Earthlink also blocks most of it. It also depends on where you go while surfing the net and where you leave your email address for information and newsletters. One should have several email addresses and leave one where you could tolerate the spam for newsletters, etc. When you change your address, you can then apply these techniques with some success.
