Subject:Re: Ignition Kill Switch

I just came across an article that I printed from a web site almost 3
years ago on a "DIY Immobiliser" that used a magnet, hidden in gutted
key ring remote, to activate a magnetically operated switch. You could
use it to cut power to your ignition coil, starter, fuel pump or ECU
with this set up. The link is:
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0059/printArticle.html , but now you have
to pay to read the entire article. All the thief would see is a push
button switch that activated the system, and a flashing LED when the
system is activated. Push the button and the system is activated, the
current is cut to your ignition coil (or whatever you choose), and the
LED flashes. Swipe the magnet past the magnetically activated switch
and the immobilizer is off, your car will start. Tearing out the LED or
pushbutton switch or connecting the leads to them would not disarm the
system and allow a thief to start the car. The magnetically activated
switch is hidden from view behind the dash or other convenient location.
