Robert -
Hang onto thine Vanagon!
I also have a Passat wagon, and love it. Still, if I had to choose between
it and either of my Vanagons ('88 Wolfsburg or '86 Westy Syncro {ok, unfair
to compare vs. Passat}), it would not be an easy decision to give up a
Vanagon.
They are just such a well-designed and nice-to-drive vehicle. Old-skool
light vehicle, handles nimbly, does not need a heap of power to move, etc,
etc, etc.
Besides, the china hutch we just bought fit nicely in the Vanagon on it's
way home.

I am now working at Chapman VW in Scottsdale, AZ and as I sit in the new
VW's I almost want to give up my Vanagon to get a new Passat Wagon. I also
was talking with some service techs and found out that Chapman has three
long time Vanagon experts working there. But I will be selling my Blue 88
Wolfsburg with a modified WBX and a 5 speed SA .457 ring and pinion to get a
White 90 to 91 AUTOMATIC Carat, possibly in a MV. SO the wife can then
drive the auto and I can drive the new Passat Wagon. She says right...:)
If you are in are in the area drop in and say HI.
