I have a used starter motor I was playing with last night.  There seems to
be a fair amount of radial play in the shaft.  Is this normal?  Is there a hole
in the engine block that the end of the starter shaft is supposed to fit into
to take up the play, or does it have a dead bearing/bushing?  If so, how
straightforward is the replacement?
