I didn't on my '91 auto, Jerry. You might consider investing in Redline syn to see if that switch helps. It made a huge difference in mine, especially in winter, startup, crisper shifts. You'll want to change the filter/screen when you drain it, if you go that way. bob ----Original Message Follows---- From: Gerald Masar <azsun99@EARTHLINK.NET> Reply-To: Gerald Masar <azsun99@EARTHLINK.NET> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: auto tranny noise Date: Thu, 25 Nov 2004 19:47:21 -0700 I am new to the Vanagon automatic transmission after having had my '90 Westy stick for 14 years. Is it normal to hear a fairly distinct noise as you approach a stop and it shifts into lower gears? Thanks. Jerry
