For all those who responded to my question about headlight problems, many thanks. For those that pointed first to the light switch on the dash, congratulations, that was it. And a special thanks to Chris Delong of Fine Tuning in Seattle. Even though he wasn't really open today, he was willing to let me try the switch out of his Vanagon to assure that was the problem. But even better, he found in his shop a replacement switch. Even though from an different model and missing several pins that are on the switch for my '90, it works fine, all lights work. I have no idea what the other pins are for, I guess I'm left to trying to decipher the Bently diagrams. Chris was a life saver. I have an important birthday party to go to tomorrow night and would have had to miss it (the other car is in the shop). BTW, local VW had no stock and wanted $81 to order a switch. Bow Wow did not have. And my local source, Rudi at Schaffner Motors was closed today. Thank again Chris.
