If you're wanting a really simple but effective light, and you have a westy so there is a bar right over the door, you can go to home depot or similar and get a light called A Dorcy (the manufacturer's name, there's no model number or name that I know of). It runs on 4 D-cells so it has a very long life. It has a built-in hook that hangs it on the top bar, and can be turned so that the slide switch on the side adjusts from spot to flood. It can be aimed into the fridge or cabinets, and it's very bright. It can serve as a reading light for several people outside. It has a built-in stand that makes it a good camping light when not hung from a limb. The stand allows it to be positioned through 360 degrees. When it's traveling in the westy, you won't even know its there.
