Yes, Derek mentioned this at the Mid-Atlantic Bus fest this previous
weekend, something I was previously unfamiliar with in regards to heat
in the transmission. As we discussed the issue, I pointed out that my
SVX conversion uses an adapter plate so that direct heat transfer from
the engine actually needs to go through three transitions, as opposed
to only two in something like my Tiico conversion.

In the Tiico, where there is a bell housing adapter that replaces the
original bell housing, thus there is only the transition from the
engine to the bell housing and then the bell housing to the main
transmission housing. In my SVX conversion there is an adapter plate,
so there is 1) engine to adapter plate, 2) adapter plate to bell
housing, 3) bell housing to main transmission. Each transition impedes
heat transmission somewhat (not permanently of course, but slowing the
transfer none the less.)

Still, I don't intend to go anywhere near as fast as Eric (I briefly
had mine up to about 90, but back down after a couple of miles, once I
passed a few vehicles). Especially since I doubt the BFG AT T/A's will
last long at sustained speeds over 100mph...
