Bob, I installed relays and brighter lamps in my '86 Westy's headlamps. The inner square lamps are the same, USA or Euro, and the 100's do throw a mean beam. Unsafe for street driving, though. The outer rectangulars, even with the brighter lamps, were still useless to see with, and pretty good at blinding oncoming traffic. I gave up, and not wanting to do conversion work other than wiring up new connectors, brought a pair of Euro headlights from Fast Forward Automotive Inc. Best lighting $$ I've ever spent! Got very useful low beams and excellent high beams too. I will put the inners on their won switch one of these days, so I can use the brights in town. http://www.fastforward.ca/lights/default.htm Ron -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Bob Stevens Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 12:05 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Headlight Relay Kit - Just moved to Columbus, OH They make it possible to install 80/100 outer bulbss and 100w high beam bulbs, without burning up the headlight switch, so they put out quite a bit more light. They do NOT improve the poor image/light pattern these lights have by their design. The "fetal-MRI-image" gets brighter on low beam. Being able to use the 100w highs is the biggest improvement, I think. I notice it really bad with a modern vehicle bearing down on me with their nice bright headlights. Does the headlight relay kit make a huge difference or is it just little bit more illumination? Thanks, Kurt 87 Wolfsburg GL
