I took the advice of other listees and picked up a heater blower motor switch at lunch and just installed it. It was so easy that it's worth mentioning the process for those suffering from malfunctioning switches. The switch cost about $5.50 at my local VW shop, so don't put off doing it because of the expense. It's so easy to replace that that shouldn't be a deterrent either. When you pull off the lever knobs, switch knob and the control faceplate, you're looking at the switch on the right. Visible are four plastic lugs that look like you would pry them and pull the switch out the back of the metal panel. Don't, it's much easier than that. Get a fingernail or screwdriver outside (to the right of) the spring metal clip that stands about 3-4mm away from the body of the switch. Push it to the left and pop the switch out the front. Unplug, plug in the new switch, reassemble and enjoy tepid air even while stopped. Jim
