Although I have a transmission on order, I had the opportunity
to get a good deal (maybe too good...) on a used one.  I spent
the last few hours playing with it, and have some questions.

-What is the maximum allowable radial play for the input
shaft?  (If it's in Bentley, I apologize)  What would
the normal cause of play be?  Is there an easy fix?

-There's a funky bolt with a weird-o rounded end on the top
of the case, on the left side, toward the front, near the
reverse light switch. I think it has something to do with
the reverse mechanism.  It's the only bolt that comes out
It is loose and the threads in the case are damaged.
Should I care?
