Well, Volks, bURNINGvAN 2005 is over. Weeping and wailing of thousands. Unbelievably successful. Uncounted numbers of people showed up. The regulars, Warren, Christien, and Paul[?} the three musketeers of Richmond shop fame. They have a space in Richmond, CA and may be going into the Subaru conversion business. Right now they fix there vans there and part out others and I suspect tell lies to each other about their vans. Then some bus volks stopped just cause they saw us and they were cool. Have a 78 with a mystery engine [purchased and installed on a trip when there's blew]. Nice bus even though he said he envied us our van room. A couple of kids one of who's dad let them take his syncro westy. Wow! My kid won't let me take his syncro. Tim of San Jose and the heretofore mythical Caroline. She does exist. Honest. Very nice, great laugh. I'm not sure why she and the two giant dogs put up with Tim but I'd guess she's a saint [not sure about the dogs]. Of course they did come in variant of a van, a F*rd Exploder type thing. He muttered something about an O2 sensor on the van but I took that as pure hyperbole. There were others, sharing food, drink, stories and fun. 3 or 4 syncro Westys, one of them for sale. Sigh. Wonderful time was had by all although it was a tad cold. My girlfriend couldn't make it so it wasn't a perfect time. And maybe next time I'll remember to bring HOT drinks instead of sodas. Mike BenT and the rest of the Tim's didn't show or at least I didn't see them. Oh, Well.
