Is there any reason to take the jugs out if it is just a head gasket leak?\ Yes, to change the O-rings on the bottom of the jugs. Unless you can figure a way to change them without removing the jugs. Dollars to doughnuts they are hard as rock and you have to dig them out with a pick. If so, they won't reseal and you'll have coolant leaking into the crankcase. Your call ! Pull the motor, pull the jugs and do it right. This has been hased over as often as tires. Check the archives and see how many times this has been posted. And Please, Please let us all know if you find nice soft fuzzy or rock hard O-rings on the bottom of your cylinders if you decide to look.
