Your alternator isn't charging. Check the belt of course. Check that the wires from alternator to starter are not broken. If it's got a bunch of miles probably the brushes are worn down. If it's a bosch alternator, unscrew the 2 screws from the back of the alternator and pop out the voltage regulator/brushes. See if the brushes are worn pretty far down (1/4" left?). It's possible to get brushes http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=049903515C for just a few bucks and install them with a little work. You can replace the entire brush pack with regulator and brushes http://www.busdepot.com/busdepot/details.jsp?partnumber=1197311028 for more money, and that is a simple 2-screw install. Or just get a new alternator and install it. -Hans 87 syncro 90 EJ22 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary Goldey" <Dieselslave@WMCONNECT.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, February 09, 2005 7:17 PM Subject: battery lite AND oxs lite are glowing I took an extended putt today and now my ox. sensor and battery dummy lights are faintly glowing as I drive----any ideas why?
