They make de-ionizing filters and other geegaws for car washes, pressure washers- car dealerships use them for their fleets. I find it's simpler to pick up a few gallons of .69 cent distilled water at the convenience store when I'm getting gas or on the way home from buying my antifreeze, etc. Cya, Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: "jimt" <camper@TACTICAL-BUS.INFO> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Saturday, February 12, 2005 8:15 PM Subject: Re: Coolant On 2/12/05 8:35 PM, "Robert Cardo" <rrecardo@WEBTV.NET> wrote: > Might be a good idea to invest in a simple charcoal in line water filter > that will screw right into your hose. > It'll most certainly remove all of the hard water characteristics of > your water supply, and will be on hand when you need it, instead of > running for several gallons of distilled water when you need it. > > Also a real good item to be using when washing your Van . > It'll prevent all the hard water spots. > And another idea for this item would be to filter your water on the way > into your Westies water tank. > I do. > > The price? > About $28.00 including the charcoal cartridge. > A good investment. > > RC > > Charcoal will absorb chemical impurities but doesnt do much about mineral deposits. Special attachments needed for softening (substituting salts) water. Here the water is very mineral heavy (hard) my african cichlids loved it when I was raising fish. Had a heavy charcoal filter on the tank to take out some impurities but not the minerals. African cichlids love the liquid rock. ........................................ jimt Planned insanity is best.
