Subject:Roof rack length

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to get a cheap Thule roof rack.
I am trying to find the optimal lenght for the bar.
I do not find what I am looking for in the archives.
I have some gutter mounts, drilled into the pop top.
 From the dimensions
(http://www.members.shaw.ca/bilbo/van%20diagrams.html), width goes from
154 cm (60inches) to 180cm (71in).
Gutter to gutter is close to 60.
I guess the 58 bars are too short or it will barely make it (I think
Thule has 50,53,58 and 70 inches bars, (and smaller ones too)).
Has anyone tried 58' bars on gutters or poptop? is that long enough?
Just wondering about the extra-room (nice to handle my luggage box on
one side and windsurfing boards on the other) on the westy and the
compatibility with my passat (70' will be too wide).

Just found one of my old post on this in the archive

Thule says 58 will fit...
