jeff, i think that was '80 only they used the metal backplate for the speedo.
  not that it makes a difference, as i have never seen the plastic tabs off
the later speedo backplates broken..its always the threaded cluster HOUSING
points that are broken..even on the 80's with the metal speedo backplate, the
cluster housing was still plastic.
