Regards all. New to the list but not entirely to V'gons, having pushed the same old '83 water cooled around for the last 15 yrs. To your question, I had a similar issue ~ a yr and a half ago. Gave up quickly on self diagnosis as it had a new filter. Nursed it to my local indy who quickly diagnosed and replaced the idle stabilizer. Symptoms were that it'd die after having been run for a while, restart and run fine for several minutes after it'd been allowed to cool down for a bit. Been fine since. Dunno that I'd have ever figured it out. I'm assuming of course that your '89 has similar idle control circuitry. I started it up the other day, drove it around the block a few times and then it sputtered and quit. It starts back up ok, but then sputters and quits agian. Acts like it's running out of gas.
