I use a small pump that screws onto the top of a quart oil container. You can also put a funnel on the end of a hose, run the end of the hose into the tranny filler hole, and hold the funnel end of the hose while you fill. Much easier if you jack up that side of the van and create a space between the fender and top of the tire. Actually, jacking the van up helps while I use the pump too. Just creates more space to work in. bob mine is a manual tranny ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill H." <starfinder88@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, April 08, 2005 11:08 AM Subject: Filling the transmission > Ok, now that I have the hole in the transmission patched and have a > completely empty case, it's time to fill it and get on the road again. > However, unless I start taking off hoses and shifting rods (and maybe not > even then) there doesn't seem any way to get the oil into the filler hole. > Is > there some trick to doing that?
