I have had curtains melt in the washing machine.  I used to run my
curtains through a delicate cycle whenever I got a new camper, now if
I do wash them I hand wash them with a mild detergent/water mix and
definitely air dry them..  Sometimes it is a bad idea to get them
really wet, but at that point they are pretty much ruined anyway..
