Subject:Re: Front hose and alloy wheels

Tom,

I wouldn't worry. I have 15" wheels on my '84 westy
(along with the spare), running 215/65s and had no
problem with coolant hose. It was definitely a
tighter fit, but no crimping involved (or even close
to that). The problem i did have was with the spare
tire tray. It is formed to fit the stock steel
wheels, and the alloys don't sit in it well (at least
mine didn't). Watch for the tray scratching the
center of the wheels. Mine did, and my fix was to
bend the middle down an inch or so. Also, the upper
tire retaining wire does not accommodate a wider
wheel, so my fix was to simply remove it. I then used
a bolt as a hinge for the tray, and used webbing from
a climbing store to hold down the tire (not that it is
terribly necessary to do that).

An afternoon of playing around will get you taken care
of. No worries.
