If you can hear the pump running but the engine refuses to fire, I would
also suspect the filter being a bit plugged.

Now's a good time to change it.

Subject: Ran out of gas ....now won't start ??
I ran out of gas this evening....rolled right into a gas
station.....lucky break.....but after putting gas in.....won't
start.....unlucky break
Fires and sputters but won't catch.
I'm guessing some crud from bottom of tank has clogged either the fuel
pickup or the fuel filter.
Suggestions.....other ideas for a fix?????
This is a 2wd 89 Westy, automatic.
