Well thanks everyone for the ideas. This is how I did it. A Dremel tool with
a tungsten carbide cutter . I slowly hollowed out the old studs then I drilled
them with a helper to get it as square as possible. Tapped them and installed
heli coils. The new exhaust system went on without incident. Enjoyed a couple
of very cold beers afterwards. Not an easy job.
