I would try Hugos, also in Encinitas. I take my 87 there for things too big for me to tackle-
including a head redo almost 4 years ago. The job was around $1100 for the head, coolant flush,
etc. and was about 50,000 miles ago with no leaks since. My other head is original and still leak
free after 160,000 miles.  Anyone who needs a good mechanic for their Vanagon (or Volvo) should
definately check out Hugos and ask for Rick.  Good luck, Adam
