Re-install the compressor, take it and have a vacuum pulled on the system to remove the moisture and to see how long it will hold a vacuum - that way you can see if there are any leaks that will need to be repaired before spending any money on Freon. Good luck Tim Michael Knight <vwdormer@HOTMAIL.COM> wrote: My '85 Vanny has always had the AC Compressor disconnected. The PO told me he disconnected it to rermove the engine and replace the throwout bearing, etc. I am wanting to reconnect the hoses and recharge the system. Is there anything to be aware of or service I can do while I have the compressor out. Can I check anything, add anything, etc. Thanks, Michael Knight '77 Westy Deluxe, "el Verde" '85 Vanagon GL, nameless http://photos.yahoo.com/electrictrain@sbcglobal.net TJ Hannink Goldibox - 1987 Vanagon Camper, Wolfsburg Edition 1981 Bluebird Wanderlodge, FC-33 Winter Park, Florida http://home.earthlink.net/~tjhannink/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wolfsburg_campers http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FC_wanderlodge FAVOR website: http://home.earthlink.net/~clubvanagon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
