Several months ago, I purchase a couple of spare headlight switches from my local VW. I figured, that after I had upgraded to relays, I'd swap in a couple of nice shiny new switches, and never worry about it again (I'd also had some flakieness from the dimmer on the switch on my camper. At the time of the dimmer flakiness, I decided to rob the Tristar's headlight switch for my camper, temporarily...only to find out that the switch in the Tristar was different and didn't fit! Well, I figured, okay, technically the Tristar is from Canada, so that's possibly why the switch is different than my US (California) Westy. My Tristar is a 1990 model year, my Westy is a 1991 model year. No biggie. After having removed the Westy's switch in order to replace, my dimmer started working fine again (corroded connection thought I, and didn't sweat it. My replacement (and spare) switch came in at the dealer, and I picked them up and set them on the shelf. Today, I decided, what they hey, I'll slap it in now. Only.... The replacements are like the Tristar's headlight switch! A part I thought I'd have trouble getting (locally), and now I've got a surplus! So I went and checked the GoldBrick (86 passenger Syncro) and it uses a headlight switch like the Tristar.
