iirc it's urea that did for your paint. Birds concentrate their waste, so's to save weight by not using liquid to dispose of what the kidneys filter out. The white stuff in bird poop is fairly strong acid. Anyone know how to remove redwood stains from paint? That's my local environmental problem, living in California. alan ----- Original Message ----- From: <JordanVw@AOL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, May 16, 2005 9:39 AM Subject: toxic bird poop > ok, all you chem and biology majors out there.. what the hell can possibly > be in bird crap that will eat thru paint/clearcoat!!!!?? > > spring is here, and the local bird population is doing the Blitzkrieg thing.. > dropping bombs on every car around. > anyway, i went to clean off some of this sh*t and i discovered it has eathen > thru the clearcoat! done deal..damage done.. no buffing will help.. > that is some toxic turds.. just ranting that a factory finish cant stand > up to some doodoo.. :<( > > any of you avain afficiandos know? > chris >
