We took our chocolate brown '85 westy about 100 miles from our home in NEPA to the Pine Creek Gorge for backpacking and visiting friends near Slate Run, who incidentally have a '81 diesel Westy and Vanagon. On Sunday late morning, we had just got back to the vehicle when what comes puttering down the lane but a '85 chocolate brown Westy. Our ears and senses were focused as we watched it pass and pull over at one of the little runs feeding Big Pine Creek. I walked over, every muscle protesting, and came to learn that just like mine, his Westy was bought originally in Germany by someone in the service and shipped back, they had almost equal mileage, within 6k and showed the same wear in all the usual areas. The kicker was that our new friend lives just 20 miles from our house and is a list follower, BD and VA customer and frequents the same wilderness areas we enjoy. Talk about a small world !! So Oneida Jim, nice to have met you and see you out there. Dave Creasy '78 Westy '85 Westy '93 EVMV 5 sp.
