Larry from Ga. here...still trying to get my thoughts straight on this upgrading to a later year model Vanagon (86-91) from my current 1985
Vanagon.

(1)    Round to Rect. highlights.  
    *I have parts (I think enough?) to convert my round H/lights to rectangule but had to do this conversion?   
    -What parts will this take (have have rech. metal light frames (w/ spring) and lights from another vanagon.....
    -Do I have to drill mounting screw holds into my Vanagon's grill area?
    -electical connections, relays, etc. for this upgrade?
    -etc.
*Any websites or article that you know of.
**I do not know how to use the Archives, would this be a good case to use them (round to rect. headlight conversion).

(2)    A/C - I have a 1985 Vanagon parts car that has complete AC system.
How tough (time, tools, $) is it to swap the entire system from one vanagon to another?
I imagine the "running of the lines" to be the difficult thing....?
(I know someone who can charge my system after I replaced all O-rings, receiver-dryer, check compressor, mount and check all lines, etc.)

Thanks for helping me sort out my options from your experiences....
