I've found that "Brake Parts Cleaner" and rags with a bit of texture are best for cleaning oily deposits off of engines. Autozone, WalMart, and other places often have the spray cans on sale for $0.99 A little easier to use than gasoline and a little safer (though Brake Parts Cleaner is extremely flammable too). Don't forget to wear gloves. Once everything is clean you may see a cracked oil filler tube and/or leaking gasket between the oil filler tube and the engine block. That would be a good leak to have, much easier to fix than a leaky oil pump cover. >In a message dated 5/29/05 4:03:20 AM, maxjoyce@IPA.NET writes: > ><< Any help is appreciated!! >> >If you do not have >any mineral spirits, use some gasoline (even better), just don't be stupid.
