Just got over the same syndrome in my 85 2day. It was the wires going to
the distributor. Remove the plug(carefully!)that attaches these 3 wires and
check that they are pushed all the way in , and not broken.Other possiable
solutions can be found in the vanagon syndrome postings this week.
