Thanks Doug. Let me know how it all comes out if you do some "re-engineering" on it. I have thought of buying one of those floor units with a dry hose already on it to use when I am "docked". Would have to be small so it could fit between the front seats. I just have not found one small enough yet. Maybe this little one (with some work) could mount in one of the side windows or luggage rack for 110 usage. Hmmmmmmmmmm. -Tom Doug in Calif wrote: >Tom, >Here's the specs on what I believe is the exact unit. >I know the one at Sams is a GE and 5150 btu and the 530 watts match as well >. >It looks like the Sam's price of $77 is pretty darn good, shows up better >than internet pricing. > >Its possible the model at Sams does not have all the features like remote >control and timers and stuff. >For $77 bucks I am very tempted to buy one and play around with it and my >inverter and see how it works. >If nothing else I can plug it into my van and plug the van into shore power >for a pre cool down. > >I would also be very interested if I could "strip" it down and get it into a >smaller lighter bare bones unit. >Some stuff lends it self to that and some engineering is pretty good >already. > >Here's the link for the specs. > >Keep yer head cool! > >http://tinyurl.com/cvhm2 > > >Doug >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Tom Bauer" <Tom.Bauer@Sun.COM> >To: "Doug in Calif" <vanagon@ASTOUND.NET> >Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2005 1:25 PM >Subject: Re: Beat the heat portable AC unit for vanagon $77 bucks > > > > >>Hey Doug, >> >>What is the make and model of this sucker.
