Hi Chris,
The doors do have to be off to properly paint the front door jamb.
That said, If you're doing the same color, don't bother! (ei...don't B anal
retentive!)
Also, paint never goes down the same way twice!
The batch, the mix, how it's thinned, the humidity....on &  on
Make sure it's all coated at once.
