list: anyone have water cooled vanagon experience with FAIL-SAFE thermoststs by MOTORAD? http://www.motoradusa.com/products/failsafethermo/ autozone carries them; probably other suppliers as well. have used these with success in ordinary cooling systems, but the water cooled vanagon, as we all know, requires the thermostat to modulate the flow somewhat more precisely than on a standard system. another question i have about these thermostats is how far above normal operating temperature the permanent fail-safe feature engages; in other words, if relatively minor overheating causes the unit to lock open, they would probably now and then lock open unnecessarily, and, potentially, be a lot of work to maintain. dan
