If nothing else has, this has convinced me that a gmail account is the only way to go for mailing lists. The webmail interface has EXCELLENT search capability, auto-login, and automatically groups messages by title; Google allows POP access like a regular email server for those times when you're on the road and have limited connectivity; and with a 2.4gigabyte (and rising!) storage "limit", the list will NEVER be bombarded with "mailbox full" messages from some mailer daemon. I used to use my own email server and Eudora, but this is much better. I have plenty of gmail "invites" if anyone wants to try it out.
