Wow! I just stumbled onto this thread. Yep, I've heli-coiled my drain plug, poor bastard that I am (actually, it was Fred's Garage that did it). But what caught my eye was the notion of having one's mouth washed out by Mom. I don't know from Oxydol, but in the 1950's the thing to use was some kitchen bar soap called Phels Naptha. Insanely bad stuff...years later *she* apologized to *me*. And, lo and behold, I googled it and came up with this scary page: http://www.femmedomme.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=25;t=000129 Yikes! I would consider anyone who has a bitched oil drain plug hole in a Vanagon and who, apparently, is not used to dealing with such calamities, a poor bastard. I also have enough compassion for him not to send him down a path to nowhere. I've had my mouth washed out by the best of them, with Oxydol no less (thanks, Mom), and I still believe in free speech, so, please don't saddle me with the limitations placed on Joy's lexicon. Enough of this sidebar -- how do you repair the hole? George
