'88 2.1l Hoping the list can help me once again Tried to start the van today after it had been sitting at work all day. Would turn over and start for a brief second and then die. Feathering the accelerator while it started for that brief second didn't help and I was never able to get it started. Occasionally it would die and then briefly act like it was going to catch, then would make an audible "cough, cough" and die. I know I'm getting gas by the strong smell and the brief start. Confirmed fuel pump is buzzing and fuel pump relays are clicking. Can only assume getting spark due to the brief starts plus pulled the plugs and they're not wet and plug wire connectors are warm. Seems like I'm getting brief combustion. Going to dive into checking Hall Sender tomorrow but recently inspected and did not find cracking or separation at the connector. RECENT WORK Properly adjusted Throttle Position Switch Cleaned and lubed Throttle body Checked and cleaned Idle Stabilizer valve. Checked for corrosion at Idle Stabilizer Control Unit - none found Cleaned and replaced (as needed) grounds under the coil and on left head Added additional 10 gauge ground wire from firewall to left head Temp II replaced 5 months ago but have not checked according to Bentley Checked AFM - BTW is resistance between 2 & 3 supposed to test out like a bell curve while moving the flap? (increasing to a peak then decreasing) Idle before today was rock solid. No hunting at all. Would appreciate any suggestions on other culprits Thanks Barrett Willet '88 Wolfsburg
