I found a man sleeping in my Vanagon parked in front of my house in Atlanta-Midtown. I frequently found the glove box rifled through and I had long since given up on the concept of locking a car in Atlanta. I resolved my security issues by moving to a small city in Iowa. I still have lock cylinders in my Van that have toothpick wood jammed in them from my cross the street neighbor's kid so it no longer easily locks from the outside. Fortunately, I don't have much need to lock my Vanagon here. I just don't think one can have a target like this parked on the street in any large city now. Think of it as income redistribution for the 21st Century. <sigh> On 8/4/05, Ben S <phlogiston420@gmail.com> wrote: > well i have always been the first to say that car alarms are annoying > and useless, but i have just changed my mind. last week, i went away > on a business trip after completing preperations for a mid week > vacation to socal and yosemite (all new fuel lines, new wiring and > high rpm oil pres sensor, new oil pressure gauge, bilstiens all > around, the latter job performed by buslab in berkeley). as usual, i > left my van on the street by my house in a decent area of oakland and > stashed the faceplate for my alpine deep in a hidden rear pocket of my > seat cover, behind some maps. -- --------------------------------------------- Donald Baxter 316 Ridgeview Avenue University Heights, Iowa 52246 www.onanov.com
