I once restored a Volvo and did a color change on it. Since all of the interior trim was out anyway for the color change, I had a buddy completely cover the insides of all the body panels with the wax based compound he used in his rustproofing shop. The stuff was similar to Waxoyl. All was right in my world until the weather got warm; then the rustproofing became a thermal mass which turned that car into an oven. Have you ever been in the attic of a house with an asphalt shingle roof on a sunny day? Similar effect. Since I have yet to see an undamaged body panel start rusting at its center, all that is really needed is to coat the bottom of the panels on the inside and, perhaps, spray a band of the rustproofing on the panel seams.
