I pulled the oil plug on my 85 1.9L today and it won't tighten back in. The plug has what looks like a coil, or spring, on the threads, and this spins around, not tightening. A friend told me this may be the threads from the oil pan, but I can feel threads in the oil pan. Is this "coil" an old fix? And, how would I now fix that? I've heard of a Heli-coil, but never used one. Would that be the answer? Is it something that I could do myself (not being an ace mechanic)? How about an oversize, self-threading plug? Right now I'm stuck in the yard without a drop of oil...Dang it! Any help will be appreciated.
