Today I started my project to install the 87 slider into my 82. I did
not get far. As soon as I removed the long metal cover over the rear
hinge track on the 82 I saw it was a no go with the parts I had. That
track is very different than the 87 track. The other 2 tracks look the
same but that one is far from it. I can still do the conversion but it
means drilling the spot welds out, removing the rear track section, and
putting that long welded-on track piece in from a later year. More than
I want to tackle right now but I will get the donor track from a
junkyard van anyway in anticipation of the day I proceed.
