The only logbook I have received with my VWs is for the dealer
maintentance stamp and mileage/date when service was performed. This book
contains a manufacturer's label that indicates VIN, body style, engine
code, paint code(s) and lists the options included with the vehicle. Date
of manufacture is not part of the information on the label.

The same label is duplicated on the forward wall, in front of the steering
wheel.

The only location I have ever seen "date of manufacture" is on a plate
attached to the "B" pillar on the driver's side.
