Last summer my wife bought a 2000 new beetle from a used car lot.  They
had replaced the battery with one from Carquest (FLAPS).  There was no
receipt for the purchase.

Anyway, at the 11 month point, the battery failed so I took it back to
Carquest and they replaced it with a new one based on the date knockouts
atop the battery ... no questions asked.  The new battery shows a
current date.
